Pump.fun is facing backlash over a partnership with pseudonymous trader Kimchi after on-chain records revealed suspicious timing and concentration in the launch of the Kimchi memecoin. A three-hour-old Solana wallet created the token, purchased 79% of the supply for approximately $9,300, and routed all creator fees to a single address — a setting that Pump.fun's own documentation confirms can only be configured once and cannot be changed.
Within seconds of the coin's creation, @kimchi1x posted his first X update in five days, followed by 750 million tokens (75% of total supply) being sent to the fee-collecting address. Pump.fun then ran an ad campaign urging users to "be the next kimchi," and co-founder Alon Cohen announced the partnership just 19 minutes after launch. The platform later claimed Kimchi made "$32,000,000 on Pump.fun 30 mins after joining" — a figure representing unsold paper value, with 75% of supply sitting in one wallet against only $1.33 million in liquidity.
