OpenAI has appointed former xAI executive Uday Ruddarraju to lead its infrastructure and compute business, replacing Sachin Katti who will transition to an advisory role in the coming weeks. Ruddarraju joined OpenAI last year and was named chief technology officer of the compute division in July. Chip lead Richard Ho will assume responsibility for GPT-Infra work as part of the leadership restructuring. The appointment comes amid frequent personnel changes within OpenAI’s data center procurement, financing, and construction teams. Several executives involved in data center construction and the Stargate project have departed in recent months, signaling ongoing organizational shifts within the company's critical infrastructure division.
