Iran's Foreign Ministry condemned a new round of U.S. economic measures, calling them "economic terrorism" and accusing Washington of deliberately inflicting hardship on ordinary Iranians. The ministry said the measures amount to international crimes and crimes against humanity, and argued they violate international law and basic rights, including access to medical care and food.
Tehran called on all countries not to enforce the sanctions or recognize any consequences arising from them. The statement added that Iran would use all available means to defend the country against what it described as joint U.S. and Israeli military and economic actions, while accusing Washington of abusing the dollar system to pressure other states and violate their sovereignty and rights under the UN Charter.
