The Ethereum Glamsterdam upgrade successfully completed its Devnet-11 rehearsal this week, confirming blocks under new block-building rules that propose raising the gas limit from 60 million to 200 million. The upgrade introduces block-level access lists to enable parallel data fetching and verification of unrelated transactions, while extending block propagation time from approximately 2 seconds to 9 seconds to accommodate larger blocks.
During testing, the Nethermind execution client passed all 2,302 performance tests, processing 570.7 billion gas in 3 minutes and 15 seconds. Developers plan to deploy the upgrade on the Sepolia testnet on October 6 pending official confirmation, though the experimental 200 million gas limit has not yet undergone adversarial stress testing.
