Ethereum Foundation developer Marius van der Wijden has urged smart contract developers and auditors to audit their projects for reliance on 8 invariants that will be broken by the upcoming Glamsterdam upgrade, specifically through EIP-8037 and EIP-8038. These EIPs change gas accounting for certain operations and state access, potentially leaving dependent contracts vulnerable after the hard fork executes. The Foundation released a GitHub repository detailing each invariant with explanations, examples, and self-check prompts. Security firm ChainSecurity had previously identified projects relying on these assumptions. Affected teams can contact glamsterdam@ethereum.org for support. The Ethereum All Core Developers (ACD) call decided to delay the hard fork process, pausing execution on the Hoodi testnet until the compatibility issues are resolved.
