Democrats won six of the seven most competitive swing states in the final stage of the midterm elections, securing victories in Texas, Kansas, Ohio, Iowa, Maine, and Michigan. The wins in Texas and Kansas represent historic upsets, as neither state has elected a Democratic U.S. senator since 1988 and 1932, respectively. Ohio, former home state of Vice President Vance, also flipped from Republican control. Additionally, Democrats captured seats in North Carolina and South Carolina, bringing the total number of flipped seats to seven and putting them on track for 54 Senate seats. Alaska remains undecided due to a controversy involving candidates sharing the same name.
