The Bank for International Settlements warned that advanced AI is sharply reducing the time banks have to fix software vulnerabilities before attackers exploit them. A new BIS report said frontier AI is enabling autonomous vulnerability discovery and exploitation, cutting the window between discovery and exploitation from weeks to minutes. The report said periodic security assessments and scheduled patching are becoming increasingly inadequate, urging financial institutions to accelerate software fixes and related authorization decisions.
