Aerodrome and Velodrome, the leading decentralized exchanges on Base and OP Mainnet respectively, announced a merger to launch Aero, an on-chain spot exchange spanning seven blockchain networks. Aero goes live on Ethereum mainnet, Base, Robinhood Chain, Ink, OP Mainnet, Arc, and Arbitrum — chains collectively accounting for approximately $120 billion in monthly DEX trading volume.
Following the merger, AERO and VELO tokens will migrate to a unified AERO token, while veAERO and veVELO positions convert to sAERO. Developed by Dromos Labs, the platform will distribute 100% of revenue to AERO stakers, according to founder and CEO Alex Cutler. New features include Predictive Allocation, enabling stakers to direct liquidity reward budgets toward revenue-generating markets; Metaswaps for cross-network trading; and Slipstream V3 with dynamic fees and MEV capture. Aerodrome held a 58% share of Base's DEX volume in Q3, while Velodrome captured 60% on OP Mainnet.
