What Is River (RIVER) and Why Seven Wallets Hold 99.82 Percent of Its Ethereum Supply

Key Points

Explore River (RIVER), a cross-chain stablecoin protocol where seven wallets hold 99.82% of supply. Learn key risks, tokenomics, and what impacts its price.

River (RIVER) is the token of a cross-chain stablecoin protocol, and its seven largest Ethereum addresses hold 99.82 percent of the supply on that chain. One contract address carries it on Ethereum, BNB Chain and Base, and those three balances sum to 99,998,726 RIVER against a 100,000,000 cap.

RIVER closed at $1.34794666 on Friday 11 September 2026, up 27.21 percent on the session, up 1.15 percent over seven sessions and down 47.36 percent over thirty. We went looking for the cause of that jump. The project's own domain publishes no web address, its documentation and blog hosts return a non-existent domain, and its code repositories carry nothing dated 10 or 11 September.

What Is River (RIVER)?

River is the token of a cross-chain stablecoin system. The clearest description comes from the team's own GitHub profile. It calls the project a circulatory system for crypto, connecting assets and yield across chains. An omni-CDP stablecoin protocol is the engine underneath that description.

A CDP is a collateralised debt position, and the mechanics are older than crypto itself. You lock an asset, the protocol issues a stablecoin against it, and you repay the stablecoin to get your collateral back. The cross-chain part is the ambition on top, because the same deposit is meant to work on more than one network without you moving anything by hand.

The name is newer than the code. River is the rebrand of Satoshi Protocol, and the organisation that holds the code is still called Satoshi-Protocol on GitHub while its profile text describes River. That mismatch is the checkable version of the rebrand, and it changes what you find when you search. The old name returns the contracts and the audit history, and the new one returns the token.

The contract itself is unremarkable in the way you want a token contract to be unremarkable. Name and symbol return plain ASCII with no lookalike characters, decimals read 18, and the identical address serves the token on all three chains. If you have never run those checks yourself, how to audit a new token contract walks through the calls one at a time.

Why Did RIVER Jump 27 Percent on the Friday 11 September Close?

RIVER closed at $1.05962697 on 10 September 2026 and at $1.34794666 the following session, a rise of 27.21 percent. A move that size usually has a cause you can point at and date. This one doesn't, and the useful thing we can give you is the list of places we checked.

Two aggregator feeds
Nothing dated 10 or 11 September 2026

The domain river.inc is registered and answers on Cloudflare nameservers, and it publishes no address record at all. Two independent public resolvers returned an empty answer for the apex name on 12 September 2026, and a non-existent domain for docs.river.inc and for the blog and app hosts. There is no web server behind any of it, so the connection failures people report are a symptom of an empty zone.

The code was the second check. The Satoshi-Protocol organisation on GitHub holds five public repositories. The newest commit in anything the team wrote itself is dated 10 December 2025, and it added a section on River Point Conversion 2.0 to the audit repository. The farm contracts were last touched on 21 September 2025 and the core contracts on 13 January 2025. The only 2026 activity anywhere in the account is a fork of a third-party clear-signing registry, created on 16 June 2026, whose commits belong to other people. You can read the five repositories yourselfand the dates are on every one of them.

Two aggregator feeds carry nothing dated 10 or 11 September either. No announcement, no listing and no governance vote turns up against the session that moved the price 27.21 percent.

An absent catalyst is a finding, and it beats a guess. A 27.21 percent session with nothing behind it on any surface the project controls is a liquidity event in a thin book, and what it tells you is the size of position that market can carry.

The thirty-session number is the one to keep. RIVER closed at $2.560522156 on 12 August 2026 and at $1.34794666 on 11 September, down 47.36 percent, and the seven-session figure of plus 1.15 percent says the jump barely recovered a week of drift. One green session inside a fall like that is a bounce.

How Does the RIVER Token Work?

Three calls to three public nodes settle what the supply actually is. Ethereum returns 57,767,033.16439 RIVER, BNB Chain returns 42,142,943.535225 and Base returns 88,750.179493.

Those add to 99,998,726.879108, which is 1,273.12 short of the 100,000,000 maximum, or 0.0013 percent. A cross-chain total landing that close to the stated cap is about as strong a canonicity proof as a token hands you. A decoy deployment has no reason to reconcile against the real one.

Run the same three calls on any later date and the per-chain numbers will have moved, because tokens bridge between the networks. The total holds. Two reads on Saturday 12 September had the Base and BNB Chain balances 265.847766 RIVER apart in opposite directions, and the sum did not change by a single unit.

The number people quote is the circulating supply, and that is where the feeds part company. One aggregator publishes 19,600,000 RIVER, exactly 19.6 percent of the cap. Two others publish 37,193,056, or 37.19 percent.

At the 11 September close of $1.34794666 the first figure gives a market value of $26,419,754 and the second gives $50,134,256. The gap is $23,714,501 for the same token at the same price on the same day, and the only thing that changed is which supply number the page used. How a market cap is calculated takes two minutes and it settles arguments like this one.

Priced against the full 100,000,000 cap, that close gives $134,794,666. Every token unlock walks the circulating figure toward that number, and the next one is dated 22 September 2026.

Who Holds RIVER, and How Much?

The Ethereum contract has 3,699 holder addresses. Seven of them hold 99.82 percent of the RIVER on that chain, and the top ten hold 99.95 percent.

Five of those seven balances are round numbers and three of them are round to the million exactly. Numbers like that come out of allocation transfers, and they are what a vesting or treasury wallet looks like before anything moves.

Set the seven against every RIVER in existence and they hold 57.66 percent of the 99,998,726 tokens across all three chains. Set them against the 19,600,000 circulating supply that one aggregator publishes and they hold 2.94 times it.

A token account is not a person. A pooled venue account can represent thousands of customers, a bridge contract holds what other people deposited, and a vesting contract holds tokens no one can move. We're naming no address owner here and you should assume none.

What Can Move the RIVER Price?

The Token Unlock on 22 September 2026

The next River token unlock is dated Tuesday 22 September 2026 and it releases into the advisor allocation. One tracker sizes that date at 1.48 percent of the 100,000,000 cap, another gives no figure without a subscription, and the project's own tokenomics page is unreachable because docs.river.inc does not resolve. It is a supply event you can date and cannot size.

The Allocation Schedule Behind It

River tokenomics run to 2030 on a published allocation split, and the largest single line is the conversion of ecosystem points into tokens.

Allocation
Share of supply
Dynamic Airdrop Conversion

Investors
15%
Ecosystem Incentives
12%
Liquidity
11%

10%

Thirty percent of a hundred million tokens arriving through a conversion mechanism is the dominant supply question on this asset, and it dwarfs the advisor tranche landing on 22 September.

The Depth Behind the Quote

Reported volume against the 11 September close was $5,820,093, and the on-chain pools holding RIVER are small enough that a single BNB Chain pair carries most of the tradeable depth. A 27.21 percent session on a book that thin is arithmetic. Who takes the other side of your order covers why the quote on the screen and the fill in your account diverge when depth is this shallow.

The FOMC Meeting on 15 and 16 September

The Federal Open Market Committee meets on 15 and 16 September 2026 and publishes a Summary of Economic Projections alongside the decision, per the published FOMC calendar. The August 2026 CPI landed on the anchor session itself at 0.4 percent month over month and 3.4 percent year over year. A token with a market value in the tens of millions doesn't set its own direction across a week like that one.

The Float No One Agrees On

The two circulating supply figures differ by 17,593,056 RIVER. If the higher one is right, then 17.6 million tokens that the low estimate treats as locked already sit in somebody's hands, and the real float is close to double what one aggregator shows.

Risks of Buying or Trading River

Seven Wallets Decide the Price

Seven addresses hold 57,661,937 RIVER between them and the reported dated volume on 11 September was $5,820,093. The fifth-largest holder alone couldn't leave through that book at anything close to the screen price. Every other risk on this page is smaller than that one.

The Project's Own Surfaces Are Dark

You can't open the documentation, the blog or the app, because river.inc publishes no address record and its subdomains return a non-existent domain. When a team's own pages go dark you lose the one source that can settle a supply question, and third-party trackers become the entire record. That is how two of them end up 17,593,056 tokens apart with no one able to referee.

The Code Has Been Quiet Since December 2025

The newest commit the organisation wrote itself is dated 10 December 2025, and the single 2026 push in the account is a fork of somebody else's registry. Nine months without a commit proves nothing on its own about the state of a running protocol. It does mean no one shipped anything you can point at across the window that moved the price 27.21 percent.

A Same-Name Token Is One Search Away

Search for River crypto and three separate assets come back. A second asset called River Pts trades on BNB Chain at a different contract address, and it converts into RIVER through the project's own conversion mechanism. Its listed homepage is app.river.inc, which does not resolve. Moonriver is the third name down the same search result and it belongs to an unrelated Kusama parachain, so read the contract address before you read the name.

Clean Metadata Proves Only What It Proves

A matching address on three chains and a supply that reconciles tell you the contract is the one the aggregators index. They tell you nothing about who holds the tokens, what the team ships next, or where the price goes. Sizing a position against your risk matters more here than another metadata check.

How to Research River Safely

Check the supply on chain, and treat the listing page as a claim. Three total-supply calls to public nodes on Ethereum, BNB Chain and Base cost nothing and take under a minute. The three balances should reconcile to within a rounding error of the stated cap.

Read the circulating supply as the disputed number it is. It is the single input that decides the market value on the page. The two published figures here differ by 17,593,056 tokens, so the site you happen to open decides what the token appears to be worth.

Sort the holders by balance before you size anything. A top-seven share of 99.82 percent changes what an exit looks like, and no amount of clean contract metadata offsets it.

Treat a dark domain as a data problem in its own right. When docs.river.inc won't resolve, no tokenomics question can be settled at the source, and every number you repeat after that belongs to somebody else.

Read the fall before you read the bounce. Measuring a drawdown against its recovery puts the 47.36 percent thirty-session decline into the frame that decides how far and how long a recovery has to run.

Final Thoughts

A token can be canonical and still be untradeable at size. River's contract passes every test a contract can pass, and the wallets above it turn the quote on the screen into a price for a few thousand dollars at a time.

That trade-off is the one nobody prices.

Tuesday 22 September 2026 is the date to write down, because it carries the only calendar entry this asset has, and its size can't be read from the source that should publish it. If the domain comes back and the documentation with it, most of what is unknowable here turns checkable in ten minutes. Until that happens you are buying a supply schedule you can only read second-hand.
