Filecoin Price Prediction 2026-2030: Will FIL Reclaim $3.39 or Stall at $0.63?

Key Points

Filecoin (FIL) loses roughly 60% of its daily supply growth on or about 14 October 2026, when the six-year vesting schedule that dates to its 2020 launch runs out. That date anchors any Filecoin price prediction for 2026-2030, and the starting point is the Saturday 12 September close of $0.8022 on Phemex spot.

Two readings of Filecoin's own chain on 8 and 13 September put the vesting flow at about 187,000 FIL a day and mining at roughly 58,700. Circulating supply grew about 309,000 FIL a day across those five days, a pace near 12.4% a year. Only about 5.8 million FIL of the schedule was left to vest at the second reading.

What Is Filecoin (FIL)?

Filecoin is a storage network that pays providers in FIL for repeatedly proving that they still hold the data clients paid them to keep. Providers also lock FIL as collateral against those promises, and that locked pool turns out to matter for the supply arithmetic further down. Our Filecoin explainer covers the proof system and the project's history in full.

The protocol caps supply at 2 billion FIL, and its client code releases the non-mining share on schedules counted from the network's 15 October 2020 liftoff.

Where Is FIL Trading After the Saturday 12 September Close?

Phemex spot closed FIL at $0.8022 on Saturday 12 September 2026, a session gain of 2.01%. CoinGecko's dated close for the same session came in at $0.800957, a spread of 0.155% between the two feeds. Over seven sessions FIL rose 1.84%, and over thirty it gained 18.35%.

What that close is worth in total depends on which Filecoin circulating supply you use. On the chain's own count of 911.29 million FIL at 13:00 UTC on 13 September, the anchor implies about $731 million of network value. CoinGecko's basis of roughly 827.7 million gives $662.96 million for the same session, and our guide to calculating market cap walks through the supply-times-price method both numbers use.

What Does the Filecoin Price History Show?

FIL's 365-session window ending Saturday 12 September 2026, on Phemex spot closes, peaked at $3.388 on 7 November 2025. It bottomed at $0.6325 on 18 August 2026. The high came first, so that is an 81.33% drawdown, and the anchor is still 76.32% under the high. CoinGecko's cross-venue all-time low of $0.6124 printed intraday on that same 18 August. Its all-time high of $236.84 from 1 April 2021 leaves the anchor 99.66% below the record.

The 200-day simple average is where the September rally stopped. FIL closed at $0.8456 on 8 September, a hair under a 200-day of $0.8481, and it hasn't closed above that average since 8 May 2026. The 50-day has run under the 200-day since the death cross of 22 February 2025. Our ICP vs FIL comparison tells that story alongside the gap between the two supply feeds.

Does Anything on the Board Explain FIL's Month?

If storage demand drove FIL's thirty-session gain, the storage and compute names should have led it. I ranked seven of them against the full board, and the universe is the 234 Phemex spot pairs carrying a complete 12 September bar.

Pair
30 sessions to 12 September 2026
Arweave (AR)
+47.42%
Theta Network (THETA)
+42.06%
Theta Fuel (TFUEL)
+40.73%
The Graph (GRT)
+33.36%
Internet Computer (ICP)
+25.61%
Filecoin (FIL)
+18.35%
io.net (IO)
+12.79%
Render (RENDER)
+9.35%

FIL's +18.35% beat the board median of +13.64% by under five points and finished 94th of 234. The peer median ran +33.36%, and Arweave gained 47.42% as the closest storage comparison. That profile reads as market beta with a small premium, the same tide that lifted most of the board. The Saturday 12 September session fits it too, with FIL 70th at +2.01% against a median of +0.69%.

When Does the Filecoin Vesting Schedule End?

Method: I rebuilt Filecoin's circulating supply at two heights, 6,352,634 on 8 September and 6,366,600 on 13 September, with the formula the Lotus client runs in its supply code. The public gateway I queried doesn't expose the detailed supply call, so I read each input from actor state and rebuilt the sum. That formula adds vested, mined and reserve-disbursed FIL, then subtracts burnt FIL and the collateral locked by storage providers.

The six-year tranche in that code holds 409,805,053 FIL. Four hundred million of it is the 20% of the cap that the Filecoin spec's allocation table gives to Protocol Labs (15%) and the Filecoin Foundation (5%). The schedule the code applies after the 2020 Calico upgrade adds a further 9,805,053 FIL to the same tranche. All of it vests in a straight line over 6,307,200 epochs of 30 seconds, starting at the liftoff height of 148,888, which puts the last vesting epoch at 6,456,088.

Six years of 365 days from the 15 October 2020 liftoff lands on 14 October 2026, a day short of the anniversary because 2024 carried a leap day. The chain counts time in 30-second epochs, so the date prints here as on or about 14 October.

Between the two readings the vesting schedule released about 187,000 FIL a day, and block rewards minted about 58,700. Burning removed about 5,000 a day. Falling pledge collateral handed back about 68,400 a day as providers released more than they posted. Net of those four flows, circulating supply rose about 309,000 FIL a day, and vesting accounted for roughly 60% of it. Every other genesis tranche finished by October 2023, so this is the last FIL token unlock left from the launch schedule.

Only about 5.8 million FIL of the tranche remained at the 13 September reading, so 14 October ends a daily flow and carries no lump release of its own.

What Could Move the FIL Price?

The Vesting Flow Stops on or About 14 October

Hold network value flat at the anchor's $731 million and supply growth alone pulls the price to about $0.7938 by 14 October, a 1.0% give-back. That's about 9.6 million FIL of new float to absorb in a month. After the date, mining at roughly 58,700 FIL a day works out to about 2.35% of circulating supply a year. That's a fraction of the 12.4% pace you saw between the two September readings.

Pledge Collateral Keeps Moving After 14 October

Vesting runs on a fixed calendar and pledge collateral does not. On the pace of the 8 to 13 September window, supply growth net of vesting runs near 4.9% a year. That's more than double the mining rate on its own. That figure can shrink the moment storage providers start pledging faster than their sectors expire, and it can grow just as fast if expiries pick up.

The FOMC Meets on 15-16 September With Projections

The Fed's 29 July 2026 statement held the federal funds target at 3-1/2 to 3-3/4 percent on a 9-3 vote, and all three dissenters preferred a quarter-point rise. So the pressure inside the Committee ran toward tighter policy going into the 15-16 September meeting, which carries a Summary of Economic Projections. FIL's September tracked the board closely enough that the meeting matters more to its next few closes than anything the chain does before 14 October.

A Golden Cross Needs a Price Freeze

The cleanest way to price a reversal is to freeze the close at a level and roll both simple averages forward day by day. Our guide to moving averages sets out the crossover logic behind it.

Frozen close
Golden cross prints
$1.00
3 October 2026
$0.90
11 October 2026
$0.85
19 October 2026
$0.8022, the anchor
24 November 2026
$0.75
19 December 2026
$0.70
never

The next thirty closes to leave the 200-day run from 25 February to 26 March 2026 and average $0.9396, so the slow average drops toward any frozen price quickly. Below about $0.7278 it never drops far enough, and the golden cross stays out of reach at every horizon. That floor is 9.28% under the anchor and a fraction under the 50-day itself.

What Are the Bear, Base and Bull Scenarios in This Filecoin Price Prediction?

This Filecoin price forecast prints three levels and never a point target. Every FIL price prediction 2026 through 2030 on this page comes from a dated Phemex spot close or a simple average, so you can re-run each one.

Bull
$3.388

Bear is the 18 August close of $0.6325, 21.15% under the anchor and the low that buyers stepped in at 25 days before it. A close there lands well below the $0.7278 floor, so the bear case and a golden cross pushed out of reach travel together. The bear case loses its footing on a daily close above $0.8456, the 8 September close that the 200-day turned back.

Base runs from the 50-day at $0.7283 to the 200-day at $0.8457, with the anchor inside it. If you hold through 14 October, this is the band where the vesting end matters most. A flat price absorbs about 9.6 million FIL by that date, then faces around 40% of the old daily supply growth on the five-day pace. A close under $0.7278 breaks the base, since that's where the golden cross stops being reachable at all.

Bull asks for the 7 November 2025 close of $3.388, 322.34% above the anchor. On the chain's 911.29 million circulating FIL that's about $3.09 billion of network value, 4.2 times the $731 million the anchor implies. Every extra 100 million FIL of float by 2030 lifts that bar by about $339 million. The first checkpoint is the 200-day at $0.8457, and a bull case that can't close above it has no business quoting $3.39.

What Are the Risks of Trading FIL?

Two Supply Bases Give Two Market Caps

The chain's 911.29 million and CoinGecko's 827.7 million circulating figures put the same close about 10% apart in network value. Name the basis before you compare FIL with anything, because a screen that mixes bases ranks it wrongly.

The Pledge Flow Can Flip

The 68,400 FIL a day of released collateral comes from one five-day window. New sector commitments would lock FIL up again and slow supply growth, and a wave of expiries would speed it up, with no date attached to either.

No Network Upgrade Carries a Date

The Fire Horse upgrade activated at epoch 6,052,800 on 27 May 2026. The next upgrade in the Lotus mainnet parameters carries a placeholder height of 9,999,999,999. Any claim you see of a scheduled protocol change before 14 October has no source in the client.

Leverage on a Token 76% Off Its Window High

FILUSDT runs up to 50x on Phemex with funding every eight hours, and FIL fell 4.90% on the 10 September session alone. At 20x a move that size wipes out the margin on the position. Sizing against realised volatility matters more here than picking the direction, and our derivatives risk management guide shows you how to do it.

A view that runs past 14 October pays funding three times a day on a perpetual while it waits for the date to do its work. Our comparison of perpetual and quarterly futures sets out which structure suits a thesis with a calendar attached.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the Filecoin price prediction for 2026 to 2030?

The derived levels are $0.6325 bear, $0.7283 to $0.8457 base and $3.388 bull. Even the bull level is 98.57% below the $236.84 all-time high, which shows how far the 2021 price has drifted from anything the 2026 chart can reach.

Does the end of vesting mean less FIL selling pressure?

The client counts FIL as circulating the moment it vests, even if the recipient never moves it. So the end of vesting slows the supply count and tells you nothing direct about sales from the Protocol Labs or Filecoin Foundation wallets.

How much FIL do the genesis vesting schedules release in total?

The post-Calico schedules in the Lotus code add up to 599,822,557 FIL across every tranche, and all of them are fully vested once the six-year tranche ends.

Where does burnt FIL go in Filecoin's supply count?

It sits in the burnt-funds actor, which held about 42.94 million FIL at the 13 September reading, and the client subtracts that balance from circulating supply.

Bottom Line

Filecoin's supply story has one dated event left, and on or about 14 October it takes roughly 60% of daily supply growth out of the market for good. That lowers the bar for a recovery without paying for one. FIL's +18.35% month came from the same tide that lifted the board, and it trailed the storage names it's supposed to lead.

So the level that breaks the thesis sits under the anchor. A daily close below $0.7278 kills the golden cross at every horizon and points straight at the $0.6325 low. A close above the $0.8457 200-day after the vesting flow stops would be the first since 8 May where the chart and the supply code agree.
