Edan Yago is a co-founder of BitcoinOS who helped found Sovryn, and his company's BOS token fixes supply at 21 billion in code a 3-of-5 multisig can replace. BitcoinOS's MiCA white paper of September 2025 names him chief executive, and the company's About page gives him the same title.
BOS's verified contract describes a "Fixed supply of 21,000,000,000 tokens", and the chain agrees, with exactly 21 billion BOS issued on Ethereum. That promise describes the code BOS launched with in October 2025. The proxy in front of that code accepts a replacement from its owner, and its logs show that power unused since deployment.

Who Is Edan Yago?
BitcoinOS's About page lists Yago first among its team, as "Co-Founder & Chief Executive Officer". Three other people carry a co-founder title there, among them Gadi Guy as chief technology officer. Yago's title also appears in a regulatory filing. The company's MiCA white paper of September 2025 lists him as chief executive of BTC OS Limited. That British Virgin Islands company was registered in July 2024.
BTC OS Limited is the party seeking the token's admission to trading under the EU's MiCA rules, which is why the filing exists.
Yago's company pitches BitcoinOS as a way for any system to settle on Bitcoin, using zero-knowledge proofs it says are verified on Bitcoin. Its homepage says the stack supports rollups that pay gas in BTC and inherit Bitcoin's security, two of the three tests it sets for a true layer 2.
Phemex's academy maps that wider category in its guide to Bitcoin layer 2 projects.
Edan Yago's Career: From Sovryn to BitcoinOS
Epiphyte and Zynga
BitcoinOS's About page lists Epiphyte among Yago's other roles and says he founded it and ran it as CEO. It also lists Yago as a senior product manager at Zynga and as a contributing author at Forbes. The page gives no dates for any of those roles.
Sovryn
The Sovryn platform Yago helped found opened to the public on 15 December 2020, according to Rootstock Labs' launch post. It launched on Rootstock, a Bitcoin sidechain merge-mined with BTC, after a round that raised $2.1 million and was oversubscribed by $1 million. The post says the founders capped the raise there as a nod to bitcoin's 21 million maximum supply.
The post calls Yago "one of the Sovryn community founders" and quotes him saying, "Bitcoin created a decentralized monetary system. With Sovryn we are providing Bitcoin with a decentralized financial system as well."
BitcoinOS and BitSNARK
BitcoinOS grew out of Yago's Sovryn years, according to its About page, which says the project's early builders "worked alongside Sovryn" on Rootstock. The page credits Robin Linus's BitVM white paper of October 2023 as the foundation for BitSNARK, and Phemex's academy explains how BitVM puts smart contracts on Bitcoin.
The About page says BitSNARK verified the first ZK proof on Bitcoin in July 2024, at block 853,626, and the "first" is BitcoinOS's own claim. Two block explorers date that block to 23 July 2024.
BitSNARK's documentation describes a program that checks a Groth16 proof, a type of zkSNARK explained in Phemex's academy. It also says the protocol doesn't validate the proof on the blockchain itself. A verifier can challenge a bad proof and take the prover's stake, and that threat is what makes cheating unprofitable.
That code is public in BitSNARK's library on GitHub, under a "Non-Commercial Open Source License" whose terms bar any commercial use. GitHub dates the repository named after Yago's company, described as "A Bitcoin Native Smart Contract & Finance Layer", to March 2024.
What Is BOS Crypto?
BOS is the token of Yago's BitcoinOS, an ERC-20 on Ethereum minted in October 2025 with a Wormhole-bridged copy on BNB Chain. Its MiCA white paper says the token pays for computation and transaction processing and rewards the provers and verifiers who secure the protocol. The same filing says BOS carries no buy-back commitment or other mechanism to hold up its market value.
Who Can Change the BOS Token?
BitcoinOS's token code mints 21 billion BOS once and has no mint function, but it sits behind an upgradeable proxy whose code a multisig needing 3 of its 5 signers can replace.
The deployment's own mint record sent all 21 billion to the deploying address when the token launched on Ethereum on 23 October 2025. Ownership passed on 24 October 2025 to the multisig, a Safe whose own settings list no modules or guard.
The token's supply read exactly 21 billion BOS at the late-October close, so holders had burned none of it on Ethereum.
A simulated upgrade sent from that multisig's address succeeded in late October 2026, and the same call from one signer's own address failed. The proxy's event logs show a single upgrade, the one that set its code at deployment, and its code address hadn't changed by late October 2026.
That makes "fixed supply" a description of the code as deployed.
The MiCA white paper Yago's company filed answers "false" for supply adjustment protocols and says 21 billion BOS will be minted. Both statements match that code. A replacement takes three of the five signatures on the multisig, and the token's code adds no waiting period before an upgrade takes effect.
Wormhole's Ethereum token bridge held about 2.766 billion BOS at the late-October close, 13.17% of the 21 billion, and those tokens back the copy on BNB Chain.
Total supply reads as a cap hard-coded into a coin in Phemex's guide to circulating supply vs total supply. BOS shows that a cap like that lasts only as long as the code that holds it.
Method: Sourcify holds the token's verified code, and the supply, owner and code address come from Ethereum's last block before the late-October close. An eth_call simulated the upgrade from the multisig, from one signer and from an unrelated address. The proxy's admin events cover every block from deployment to that one.
Check: a second RPC provider repeated the simulation and the supply read, and the bridge's own count of BOS bridged out of Ethereum matched the BOS it held exactly.
How Do You Trade Bitcoin on Phemex?
Yago's BOS token reached Phemex as a BOS/USDT spot pair on 30 October 2025. A notice dated 9 March 2026 took that pair off the exchange two days later.
BitcoinOS is built to settle on Bitcoin, so bitcoin's own market is the closest Phemex trade to Yago's thesis. Other founders build on the same collateral, among them Mezo co-founder Matt Luongo, whose network lets users borrow against locked bitcoin.
The BTCUSDT perpetual's late-October close was 80,114.3 USDT, 0.92% below the previous day's close. Futures use leverage, and a leveraged position is closed automatically if losses reach its margin.
-
Fund your Phemex account with USDT and move it into the futures wallet before you open anything.
-
Open the BTCUSDT perpetual and pick leverage low enough to survive a sharp bitcoin swing.
-
Set a stop-loss with the entry, so the trade closes at a loss you chose in advance.
Frequently Asked Questions
Is Edan Yago the CEO of BitcoinOS?
The MiCA white paper BitcoinOS notified in September 2025 names Edan Yago chief executive of BTC OS Limited, the company behind BOS. BitcoinOS's About page lists him as co-founder and chief executive officer too.
Is Sovryn legit?
Rootstock Labs' launch post dates Sovryn's public launch to December 2020, on Rootstock, a sidechain merge-mined with bitcoin. Sovryn raised $2.1 million before launch, and the post says its community and core developers spent three months testing and auditing the platform.
What is SOV in crypto?
SOV is the governance token of Sovryn, the Bitcoin DeFi platform Edan Yago helped found. Rootstock Labs' launch post says holders vote on proposals in proportion to the SOV they hold, and a longer stake gives a vote more weight.
Can the BOS token supply change?
Only downward under its current code, which minted 21 billion BOS once, has no mint function and lets holders burn tokens. The proxy in front of that code accepts a replacement approved by three of five multisig signers, and its logs show no upgrade since deployment in October 2025.
What is BitSNARK?
BitSNARK is a BitcoinOS method for verifying zero-knowledge proofs, where Bitcoin miners check a disputed step only after a challenge. By the project's own account, it verified the first ZK proof on Bitcoin at block 853,626 in July 2024. Its code library carries a licence that bars commercial use.
