What Is RSS3 (RSS3)? The Token Behind RSSHub and Folo

Key Points

RSS3 is the fixed-supply crypto token behind RSSHub and Folo, and more than a third of it sat unclaimed in a migration contract in late October 2026.

RSS3 is the crypto token behind the RSSHub feed network and the Folo reader, and 36.66% of its fixed supply sat unclaimed in a migration contract at the late-October close. It's an ERC-20 on Ethereum, minted in February 2022, and it is not the RSS feed format or the RSS3 grade of natural rubber.

The late-October move was a rebound inside a collapse. RSS3 closed late October at $0.0007541 on CoinMarketCap, 22.57% above the close a day earlier, and CoinGecko's closes put the same day's rise at 25.05%. Even after that jump, the token finished 74.13% under its 11 October close of $0.002915.

What Is RSS3 Crypto?

RSS3's About page calls the RSS3 token "the native token of the RSS3 ecosystem", and it credits Natural Selection Labs with starting the project. Two products carry the name into daily use. RSSHub turns websites into feeds, and Folo is the reader that pulls those feeds into one timeline.

The network also ran two layers of its own. RSS3's whitepaper section on VSL calls the Value Sublayer "a modular Ethereum Layer 2 blockchain built with a customized OP Stack". Its Data Sublayer, DSL, was a network of nodes that indexed and served open information.

That made RSS3 one of many projects running Ethereum Layer 2 solutions, with the RSS3 coin as the native token on its own chain and an ERC-20 on Ethereum's main chain.

Why Is RSS3 Moving?

The rise followed a crash. From its 11 October close, RSS3 fell 78.90% on CoinMarketCap to its lowest close of 2026 to late October, which it set the day before the rebound. CoinGecko's closes show a 79.79% drop across the same days, and on CoinMarketCap the 12 and 13 October closes alone cut the price by 71.91%.

CoinMarketCap counted $253,900 of RSS3 volume on the day of the rebound, 6.43 times the $39,460 of the day before, and that's one tracker's tally. On-chain depth was thin beside it. RSS3's 0.3% pool against wrapped ether on Uniswap v3 held 7.32 million RSS3 and 4.40 WETH at the late-October close, about $15,760 at that day's closes.

Nothing on rss3.io or its blog dates an announcement to the day of the rise, and the RSSNext and RSS3-Network organizations on GitHub published no release on it. The claim contract was quiet too, since its last claim before the close came in mid-October 2026.

How Does RSS3 Work?

RSSHub is the infrastructure half, an open-source project that turns websites without feeds into RSS feeds through routes its contributors maintain. The RSS3 site calls it "one of the world's largest RSS networks".

Folo is the reader, and the project says it "has grown to more than 700k users" and reached the top ten on the App Store in several countries, both its own figures. Its desktop app reached version 1.16.0 on 16 October 2026, and the mobile app shipped version 0.6.1 in mid-October 2026, according to Folo's GitHub releases.

The bigger change is structural. In The Next Stage of RSS3, the foundation narrowed its work to RSSHub and Folo and wrote that "VSL and DSL will move into the next stage of this work through a migration to Ethereum". The post hands VSL's role to Ethereum and folds DSL, which "has served over 404 million requests", into the RSSHub stack.

The post fixed the conversion of POWER balances on VSL at 23 POWER for 1 RSS3, and the migration portal says VSL assets "have been migrated to Ethereum" while POWER "has been automatically converted into $RSS3". Holders collect the result from a claim contract on Ethereum.

For the token itself, the post says RSS3 "will take on a more central role" across both products. The About page adds that "the specific forms of integration will follow the pace of product development".

How Much RSS3 Is Still Unclaimed?

More than a third of all RSS3, 366.61 million tokens, sat unclaimed in the project's migration contract at the late-October close. The contract holds the RSS3 that VSL users are owed on Ethereum, and each eligible address claims its share with a proof from a published list, the same mechanism many airdrops use.

Only 33 of the 57,913 addresses eligible to claim had done so since the contract opened at the end of April 2026. Those 33 took 6.83 million RSS3, or 1.83% of the 373.4 million on the list, and 13 of the claims came on the opening day.

Claims have slowed to a trickle. Only two arrived in the seven weeks before the late-October close, one on 2 October and one in mid-October 2026. The tokens aren't locked either. One externally owned wallet owns the contract with no multisig or timelock in front of it, and it can publish a new claim list at any moment. It did so once, on 4 September 2026.

Priced at CoinMarketCap's late-October close, the unclaimed tokens were worth about $276,500, more than that tracker's volume for the whole day.

The portal tells anyone using a Folo wallet that "no action is required", and tokens leave the contract only through a claim.

Method: every claim and every RSS3 transfer in and out of the contract from its April 2026 deployment to the close block reconciles to its balance, with 373.4 million in and 6.83 million out across 33 claims. The list is the portal's own 57,913-entry file, and its root matches the one stored on chain. A simulated setMerkleRoot call succeeds from the owner and reverts from any other address.

RSS3 Tokenomics

RSS3's supply is fixed at 1 billion. One contract minted all of it to a single address in February 2022. The version verified on Sourcify has no function that mints more or burns any, and it carries no owner, so the total stood at exactly 1 billion at the late-October close.

The About page lays out the rest of RSS3's tokenomics and internal economy in ten allocations.

The page says "All vesting schedules have been completed". The terms it lists for the ecosystem and foundation shares, 47% of supply between them, would have run into early 2027 if counted from the February 2022 genesis. By the project's own account, no allocation still waits behind cliff vesting or a linear release.

About 12.54 million RSS3, 1.254% of supply, are stuck at the token contract's own address. The contract has no function that can send them anywhere, so they're out of circulation for good.

The migration contract was the largest holder at the late-October close. An unlabelled wallet address held the next-largest stake at 23.33% of supply.

What Are the Risks of RSS3?

An unclaimed overhang. The migration pool can still pass to new holders through claims. Any of it that reaches the market meets on-chain depth measured in thousands of dollars, so a handful of large claims could swing the price.

One key over the claim list. A single externally owned wallet can replace the list that decides who receives the remaining tokens, and it has used that power once. If that key were lost or stolen, control of the list and of 366.61 million RSS3 would go with it.

A role with no date. Neither of the two posts on rss3.io puts a date or a mechanism on the token's place inside Folo or RSSHub. Demand for RSS3 rests on integrations the project says will follow product development.

Concentrated holdings. The migration contract and one unlabelled wallet held almost 60% of supply between them at the late-October close. Nothing on rss3.io names who controls that wallet, which had sent more than 10 million transactions by the late-October close.

Is RSS3 a Good Investment?

The case for RSS3 rests on its products. RSSHub and Folo are working software with users, by the project's own count, and the foundation says the token will move closer to them.

The case against rests on the token. More than a third of supply waits behind a claim list one wallet can rewrite, the insider schedules have ended, and the market that prices it is thin.

Two changes would improve that picture, a published way for Folo or RSSHub users to need the token and the claim contract's ownership moving to a multisig behind a timelock.

How to Buy RSS3 (RSS3) Safely

RSS3's spot pair on Phemex came off on a notice dated 11 October 2022, and its perpetual is delisted on a notice dated 24 November 2025. On Ethereum, four checks keep a purchase or a migration claim safe.

  1. Check the canonical contract on Ethereum, 0xc98D64DA73a6616c42117b582e832812e7B8D57F. Any token that uses the RSS3 name at another address is a different asset.

  2. Swap on a decentralized exchange that quotes that exact address, and read the pool's depth and price impact before you confirm, because on-chain liquidity is thin.

  3. Hold the tokens in a non-custodial wallet whose recovery phrase only you control, and send a small test transfer before any large one.

  4. If you held RSS3 or POWER on VSL outside a Folo wallet, connect that wallet to the project's migration portalto see and claim your balance on Ethereum.

Phemex lists futures on bitcoin and other major coins. Futures use leverage, and a leveraged position is closed automatically if losses reach its margin.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is RSS3 crypto?

RSS3 is a fixed-supply ERC-20 on Ethereum and the native token of the project behind the RSSHub feed generator and the Folo reader. Natural Selection Labs initiated it, and 1 billion tokens were minted in February 2022.

Who created RSS3?

Natural Selection Labs, an equity company, initiated the project according to RSS3's About page. RSSHub's creator is known only by a pseudonym, and Folo is developed in the open by the RSSNext organization on GitHub.

What is the RSS3 coin price?

RSS3 closed at $0.0007541 on CoinMarketCap at the late-October 2026 close, 22.57% above the previous day's close. That was still about a quarter of its $0.002915 close on 11 October 2026.

Is the RSS3 token supply fixed?

Yes. All 1 billion RSS3 were minted in February 2022, and the verified contract has no function to create more or destroy any. Total supply stood at exactly 1 billion at the late-October 2026 close.

Where can I buy RSS3?

On Ethereum, through a decentralized exchange quoting the canonical contract address. Its Phemex spot pair and perpetual are both delisted, so check the address and the pool's depth before any swap.

Bottom Line

RSS3's late-October rebound moved a token whose biggest holder is a claim list. Until the project sets a deadline for that list or puts its key behind more than one signer, the unclaimed tokens matter more to the price than any single day's close.
