Epic Chain (EPIC) is the renamed Ethernity Chain token behind a crypto travel-booking site, and it fell 28.7% in a single day in mid-October 2026. So what is Epic Chain in practice? It's an Ethereum token whose holders, by the project's own account, get hotel and flight discounts plus booking cashback paid in XRP.
That fall came on more than ten times the previous day's trading volume, and EPIC closed mid-October at $0.2380, 46% below its close a week earlier. Wallets an explorer labels as exchange wallets held at least 54% of the 33.6 million supply at the mid-October close, and the deepest on-chain pool held under $50,000 in October 2026.

What Is Epic Chain?
Epic Chain calls itself "the travel layer for crypto," and its site sells hotels and flights it says cost up to 30% less than on Booking.com. The Epic Chain crypto token is what gets you those prices, because the site reserves its deals "exclusively for EPIC holders."
The project began as Ethernity Chain (ERN), an NFT platform known for celebrity collections. Phemex Academy covered that first chapter in March 2021 in its explainer on Ethernity and authenticity in the NFT space, and Epic's homepage still says "Epic started as Ethernity."
Ethernity Chain's DAO backed the rename, and the project's announcement put the vote at 97.1% approval. ERN swapped into EPIC one for one, a swap Phemex supported before it listed the EPIC/USDT spot pair in March 2025. That same announcement pitched EPIC as a Layer 2 for real-world assets and entertainment.
Epic Cash is a separate privacy coin that also trades as EPIC, and Epic Games is not the company behind the token.
Why Is Epic Chain Trending?
EPIC lost 28.70% between two daily closes in mid-October 2026, dropping from $0.4383 to $0.3125 on CoinMarketCap's data. Volume that day reached $40.6 million, or 10.73 times the $3.78 million traded the day before.
Big down days aren't rare for this coin. That drop ranks fifth among EPIC's one-day falls in the year to the mid-October close, and it's one of six days with a loss of 20% or more. Its close moved 3.55% on the median day of that year, so the mid-October drop was about eight times a normal day's move.
EPIC kept sliding to a mid-October close of $0.2380, which valued its 33.6 million coins at about $8.0 million.
The holder list shows why exchanges carry so much weight here. Seven wallets that an explorer labels as exchange wallets held 18.17 million EPIC between them at the mid-October close. That puts at least 54.07% of the supply in exchange-labelled wallets. The largest single holder at the mid-October close was one of the seven, and it held 12 million coins, or 35.71% of the total.
On-chain trading is thin by comparison. The deepest pool is EPIC/ETH on Uniswap with a 0.3% fee, and it held under $50,000 of liquidity in October 2026.
Separately, Phemex delisted its own EPIC/USDT spot pair in October 2026 under a notice that also closed EPIC deposits and withdrawals.
Method: holder balances come from Ethereum contract calls at the last block before the mid-October close, for the largest holders on an explorer's list, with wallet labels from that explorer. The scan covers only the top of the list, so the exchange-labelled share is a floor.
How Does Epic Chain Work?
Epic sells travel through a booking site that draws on more than 100 wholesale suppliers, by its own description, and lists over 2 million hotels plus flights in 180 countries. Customers can pay in crypto or by card.
The token's role, as the project states it, comes down to three perks. The deals are reserved for EPIC holders, bookings made with EPIC earn up to 8% back in XRP, and holders with $10,000 or more in EPIC get a dedicated travel concierge.
Two details shape what that means for the Epic Chain coin. The cashback arrives in XRP, so the reward itself adds no demand for EPIC. The concierge threshold is set in dollars, so a lower EPIC price means you need more coins to qualify.
Epic Chain Tokenomics
EPIC's rules live in a verified Ethereum contract named EpicToken, and its source code is published on Sourcify. The contract minted 30 million EPIC at launch in late December 2024, the same total ERN had, and it added one power ERN's contract never had.
That power is minting. The code's own comment reads "Can only mint every year, and up to 12% of the initial supply," which works out to 3.6 million EPIC per mint. The first one came in late December 2025, when the governor sent 3.6 million new coins to itself and lifted supply to 33.6 million.
The governor is a Safe multisig wallet that needs three of its five signers to act. The same wallet owns the contract, so it can also appoint a different governor. The wait between mints is 365 days and one second, counted from the last mint, which makes the next one possible from late December 2026. Holders can also burn their own EPIC, the only way the code shrinks supply.
The mint sits awkwardly with the rename announcement, which said "No change in tokenomics" when ERN's fixed 30 million became 30 million EPIC. The minting rule was in the EPIC contract from launch, and the first new coins arrived nine months after the swap.
The swap burns ERN by sending it to a dead address, and that address held 22.52 million ERN at the mid-October close, or 75.08% of ERN's 30 million supply. The other 24.92% hadn't reached it. Supply rules like these sit at the core of any coin's design, as Phemex Academy's explainer on what tokenomics is and how it works lays out.
What Is the Epic Chain Max Supply?
Epic Chain has no max supply in its code. The contract held 33.6 million EPIC at the mid-October close, and its governor can add up to 3.6 million more each year with no ceiling on the total.
CoinMarketCap and CoinGecko both print 33.6 million as EPIC's max supply. That figure counts the coins that existed at the mid-October close, and the contract can raise it every year.
A simulated call from the governor's address, with the clock moved past the yearly wait, mints 3.6 million EPIC. One unit more fails with the contract's own message, "Amount to mint exceeds 12% of the initial supply," and a call from any other address fails with "Not the governor."
At the full rate, five more yearly mints through late December 2030 would take supply to 51.6 million EPIC, 53.6% above the 33.6 million at the mid-October close.
How to Buy Epic Chain Safely
Phemex has no live EPIC perpetual or order-book spot pair. It delisted the EPICUSDT perpetual in June 2026 and the EPIC/USDT spot pair in October 2026, so these checks apply wherever you buy the token.
-
Match the contract before you buy, because real EPIC lives on Ethereum at 0x94314a14Df63779c99C0764a30e0CD22fA78fC0E under the verified name EpicToken.
-
Check the coin's name next to the ticker, because a search for EPIC also returns the Epic Cash privacy coin.
-
Read the pool fee before an on-chain swap, because the 0.3% EPIC/ETH pool held the most liquidity in October 2026 while several EPIC/USDT pools charge fees of 10% to 88%.
-
Check the quoted price impact before you confirm, because a pool holding under $50,000 moves sharply on a large order.
-
Move the tokens to a wallet you control, and Phemex Academy explains what a non-custodial wallet is and how self-custody works.
Futures use leverage, and a leveraged position is closed automatically if losses reach its margin.
What Are the Risks of Epic Chain?
A Yearly Mint With No Ceiling
From late December 2026, the governor can add up to 3.6 million EPIC a year, 10.71% of the supply at the mid-October close. Three signers out of five decide each mint, and nothing in the code limits how many years it can run.
Supply Held in Exchange-Labelled Wallets
Exchange-labelled wallets held most of EPIC at the mid-October close, so a handful of venues decide where the coin trades and how deep its market is. When one of them drops the coin, Phemex Academy's guide to what happens when a coin is delisted explains the steps you face as a holder.
Two Pivots in Five Years
Travel is the project's third pitch since 2021, after the NFT platform and the Layer 2 plan that came with the rename. Each pivot rewrote what the token is for, and the travel version ties EPIC's demand to customers who want booking discounts.
Is Epic Chain a Good Investment?
EPIC is a bet that a crypto travel site can sell enough bookings to make customers want the token, and the mid-October data doesn't show that bet paying off yet.
What would have to be true: travellers would need to buy and hold EPIC for the deals in numbers large enough to absorb up to 3.6 million new coins a year.
What the dated data shows: the mid-October close of $0.2380 was 92.06% below the August 2025 closing high of $2.997, though still above the late May 2026 closing low of $0.1939. Supply grew 12% in late December 2025, from 30 million to 33.6 million.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why is Epic Chain down?
EPIC's close fell 28.70% in one mid-October 2026 day on volume more than ten times the day before, and the coin slid on to $0.2380 by the mid-October close. With at least 54% of its supply in exchange-labelled wallets, its price is set mostly on exchanges.
Is Epic Chain legit?
Epic Chain is a real project with a verified Ethereum contract and a travel-booking site, and Phemex supported its 2025 swap from ERN. Buyers also take on a yearly mint of up to 3.6 million EPIC that three of five multisig signers control.
How many Epic Chain coins are there?
There were 33.6 million EPIC at the mid-October 2026 close, made up of 30 million from launch and 3.6 million minted in late December 2025. The contract allows up to 3.6 million more each year from late December 2026, with no cap on the total.
Does Epic Chain have a future?
Epic Chain's future rests on its travel site selling enough bookings to make customers hold EPIC. The supply can grow by up to 3.6 million coins a year, so demand for the token has to outpace that mint.
Bottom Line
EPIC is a travel token on paper and an exchange-held token in practice. Wallets an explorer labels as exchange wallets held more than half its supply at the mid-October close, and the contract can add 3.6 million coins a year from late December 2026, so the booking business has to build demand for EPIC faster than the mint adds coins.
