NBIS-USDT Futures: A Guide to Nebius’s AI Cloud Business and Trading Risk

NBIS-USDT is a USDT-margined futures contract on Phemex linked to Nebius Group’s stock. It lets traders take a long or short position on price movements without owning NBIS shares. To assess the trade, it helps to understand both sides: how Nebius turns AI computing capacity into revenue, and how a leveraged contract turns price changes into gains or losses.

This article focuses on Nebius’s business model and a pre-trade checklist. It does not use the NBIS perpetual as a forecast of the next stock-market open—a question covered in Phemex’s existing Nebius article.

What Is Nebius Group?

Nebius Group is an Amsterdam-based company listed on Nasdaq under the ticker NBIS. Its core business provides AI cloud infrastructure for customers developing, training, and deploying AI applications. That work requires computing hardware, data-center capacity, power, networking, and software that lets customers use those resources. Nebius also reports other businesses and investments, but its AI cloud operation is the focus of this guide.

For an NBIS trader, the central question is not simply whether demand for AI exists. It is whether Nebius can secure capacity, bring it online, sell it on terms that cover its costs, and finance further expansion. Each step has a different timetable. A customer may sign a contract before a data center is ready; revenue may follow after capacity becomes available.

That timing matters because NBIS stock can respond to expectations before a result appears in quarterly revenue. A contract announcement, a power agreement, or a financing decision may change how investors value future cash flows. None guarantees that the company will deliver capacity on schedule or earn the return initially expected.

How Does the AI Cloud Business Create Revenue?

Nebius provides computing capacity and services to customers running AI workloads. Training a model, serving responses from a deployed model, and operating an AI application can require different amounts and patterns of computing power. Nebius describes its platform as covering the path from development to production deployment.

One way to analyze the business is to follow capacity through four stages:

  1. Secure inputs: Obtain access to sites, power, equipment, and financing.
  2. Build and deploy: Install and test the infrastructure needed to serve customers.
  3. Contract capacity: Agree on volume, price, duration, and payment terms.
  4. Recognize revenue: Deliver the contracted service as capacity becomes available.

A delay at one stage can affect the next. Securing power does not mean servers are operating. Signing a contract does not mean its full value is current revenue. A cash prepayment may help fund construction, but it should not be confused with profit. Nebius’s shareholder materials distinguish signed deals, planned capacity, and revenue recognized as services are delivered.

Which Nebius Metrics Should NBIS Traders Watch?

The table below separates measures that can sound similar in an earnings release. The “what to ask” column is a research prompt, not a prediction about NBIS stock.

Metric What it tells you What to ask before trading
Recognized revenue Sales recorded for services delivered during the reporting period. Is growth coming from capacity already serving customers?
Annualized run rate (ARR) The latest month’s AI cloud revenue multiplied by 12, under Nebius’s stated definition. How does the run rate compare with reported quarterly revenue?
Total contract value (TCV) The stated value of a customer agreement over its term. When is the service expected to start, and how long does the contract run?
Contracted power Power covered by land and power commitments. How much of that capacity is operating rather than planned or under construction?
Capital expenditure Spending to build or equip infrastructure. How will the company fund spending before associated revenue arrives?
Customer prepayments Cash received ahead of service delivery under qualifying agreements. What obligations does the company take on in exchange for that cash?

These measures answer different questions and should not be added together. Nebius defines its AI cloud ARR using revenue from the final month of a quarter multiplied by 12. Its shareholder letter also notes that much of the revenue associated with deals signed in the second quarter of 2026 was expected to arrive in 2027 as the underlying capacity came online. Both points illustrate why a run rate or contract headline needs context.

Why Does Capacity Matter for NBIS Stock?

AI cloud customers cannot use computing capacity that has not been deployed. Nebius must coordinate sites, power, equipment, and a platform that can deliver the service. The company has discussed both capacity it builds through owned or colocated facilities and a model in which partners own infrastructure while Nebius contributes its software, designs, and customer access. These models have different capital requirements.

A trader can frame a capacity announcement with three questions. What has been secured? What is operating? What is contracted to customers? An increase in planned power may expand the opportunity, but it does not settle questions about construction costs, delivery dates, or demand at the time capacity becomes available.

Financing belongs in the same assessment. Building AI infrastructure can require spending before the associated customer payments are fully earned. Funding may come from operating cash, prepayments, borrowing, or issuing securities. Each route has costs or obligations. Reviewing cash flow, debt terms, and share count alongside revenue can give a fuller picture than reviewing sales growth alone. Nebius identifies financing, data-center delivery, equipment supply, and customer demand among its business risks.

Long Or Short?

What Is the NBIS-USDT Contract on Phemex?

Phemex listed NBISUSDT on May 28, 2026. Its listing announcement describes a linear, USDT-margined futures pair with hedge mode, a tick size of 0.01, and a stated maximum leverage of 10× at launch. Traders should check the live contract page before placing an order because trading conditions can change.

The contract is not a Nebius share. A futures position gives exposure to changes in the contract’s price; it does not give the holder stock ownership or shareholder rights. Phemex’s TradFi guidance explains that these products use margin and support long and short positions. They are available through its futures system outside regular stock-market sessions as well as during them.

Long means the trader benefits if the contract price rises, before costs. Short means the trader benefits if it falls, before costs. Either position can lose money. The ability to trade in both directions is a contract feature, not a way to remove market risk.

How Does Leverage Change a NBIS-USDT Trade?

Leverage lets a trader control a position larger than the margin posted. It also makes a given price move larger relative to that margin.

Consider an illustrative position with a notional value of 1,000 USDT and 200 USDT of initial margin—equivalent to 5× leverage. If the contract moves 3% in the trader’s favor, the change in position value is about 30 USDT, or 15% of the initial margin. A 3% move against the position has the opposite effect. This example excludes fees, funding, slippage, and changes to margin requirements.

It is not a liquidation-price calculation. Liquidation depends on the position’s maintenance margin, the platform’s risk controls, and the relevant price used to assess the position. A trader should review the displayed liquidation estimate before confirming an order, then understand that market conditions can change the available exit price. Phemex warns that leverage increases liquidation risk and that TradFi futures may not suit users unfamiliar with margin trading.

What Should You Check Before Placing an Order?

A business thesis and a trade plan serve different purposes. “Nebius may earn more from AI cloud customers” is a thesis. It does not specify the entry price, position size, maximum acceptable loss, or reason to exit. Write those down before opening a leveraged position.

On the Phemex NBIS-USDT futures page, check the contract details and the order preview. Review the direction, order type, quantity, leverage, margin mode, expected cost, and applicable fees. Phemex’s TradFi guide describes Market, Limit, and Conditional orders, as well as Stop Loss and Take Profit tools. Availability and settings should be confirmed in the live interface.

Pay attention to the difference between order price and execution price. A market order seeks execution but may fill at a different price when liquidity changes. A limit order sets a price condition but may not fill. A stop order is a risk-management tool, not a guarantee that a position will close at the stop price. For a position held over time, check the contract’s current funding terms and fee schedule rather than assuming its costs will stay fixed.

Before an earnings release or company announcement, consider what would invalidate the trade. The company could report revenue growth while also raising spending needs. It could sign customer agreements while shifting delivery dates. A stock-related futures position can react to several parts of a report at once, and leverage leaves less room for an adverse move.

NBIS-USDT Futures FAQ

Does buying NBIS-USDT futures mean I own Nebius stock?

No. The Phemex contract provides exposure to price movement. It does not deliver NBIS shares or confer shareholder rights.

Can I short NBIS-USDT on Phemex?

Phemex’s TradFi futures guidance supports both long and short positions, and its NBIS listing announcement states that the pair supports hedge mode. Check the live interface for the settings available to your account.

Is a Nebius customer contract the same as revenue?

No. Contract value describes an agreement; recognized revenue reflects services delivered under accounting rules. Nebius notes that capacity tied to some signed deals is expected to contribute revenue in later periods.

What is the main risk of using 10× leverage?

A small move against the position can consume a substantial share of the margin posted and may lead to liquidation. The maximum leverage in a contract is not a recommended setting.

Bottom Line

To assess NBIS-USDT, separate the company, the stock, and the futures position. For the company, track the path from secured power and signed agreements to operating capacity, recognized revenue, and financing needs. For the position, check leverage, costs, liquidity, and the loss you can accept before placing an order on Phemex. A sound view of Nebius’s business does not remove the risks of a leveraged trade.
