Zcash developers have merged the new Udon component into Zakura Common, a shared cryptographic library for generating and verifying private transactions, as part of the Project Tachyon scaling initiative. This integration shifts specific computations to prepare for bundling multiple payments within a single proof, aiming to reduce data loads per node. Previous optimizations using this library have already reduced private transaction creation time from over three seconds to approximately 200 milliseconds. The development team, led by Sean Bowe and Dev Ojha, has set a long-term target of supporting more than 50,000 payments per second through these upgrades. While Udon has been released as software, the broader Tachyon upgrade remains inactive and requires further development and security audits before network activation.
