U.S. law enforcement and intelligence officials accused six Chinese AI companies, including DeepSeek, Moonshot AI and Alibaba, of using “distillation” to train their own products with models from OpenAI, Anthropic, Google and SpaceX. Officials said the activity may have occurred with the knowledge of the Chinese government and warned it could enhance China’s military and cyberattack capabilities.
