Mysten Labs, the team behind the Sui Network, has announced plans to release a software development kit (SDK) in 2026 that will enable fee-free on-chain payments. Co-founder and Chief Product Officer Eman Abio criticized the current gas fee model, likening it to dynamic pricing in ride-hailing services, which he argues limits global growth by not differentiating between transaction types. Abio highlighted the structural flaws in the crypto industry's economic design, emphasizing that the traditional concepts of wallets and gas fees are temporary solutions due to scalability issues in existing blockchain protocols. The new SDK aims to support the anticipated surge in automated transactions driven by AI agents, with the network's ability to scale hardware dynamically as demand grows being crucial to its success.
