Solana processed 5 billion transactions in August, exceeding the combined transaction volume of all other blockchain networks, official data showed. The network handled more than 100,000 transactions per minute while maintaining fees far below those of other public blockchains. The Alpenglow upgrade, designed to significantly improve network confirmation speed, is expected to launch in October. The upgrade aims to reduce transaction confirmation time from about 12 seconds to 400 milliseconds.
