Trump's investment account generated substantial returns from active trading in energy stocks during the first six months of the ongoing geopolitical conflict, with holdings spanning nine major energy companies, CNBC reported.
A Democratic staff report from the U.S. Congress Joint Economic Committee estimated that Trump's overall oil and gas investment portfolio has risen by up to $15.5 million so far this year. Senator Elizabeth Warren criticized the gains, saying Trump's actions toward Iran had lifted oil and gas stocks while his holdings benefited.
Trump said on social media that he trades stocks “for our country, not for myself,” adding that he had earned “hundreds of billions of dollars for America” through stocks and other assets while receiving criticism from Democrats.
