Physicist Giovanni Santostasi has projected that Bitcoin could reach $10 million per coin in 20 years, based on a power law model. Speaking on the Coin Stories podcast, Santostasi, director of the Scientific Bitcoin Institute, explained that Bitcoin's price trajectory aligns with a power law, similar to patterns in natural systems like cities and biology. He suggests that Bitcoin's price is proportional to time raised to a power of approximately 5.8 to 5.9, indicating a potential price of $1 million in eight years.
Santostasi argues that Bitcoin behaves more like a networked organism than a corporate asset, with its value emerging from decentralized interactions. He compares Bitcoin's growth to that of cities, which follow power laws due to their networked nature. Despite short-term volatility, he believes Bitcoin's long-term trajectory is robust, with a current central price level around $120,000. Santostasi estimates a 90% probability of Bitcoin reaching his forecasted prices, contingent on continued capital inflows and institutional participation.
