MoonPay has established a subsidiary in South Korea to serve as its Asia-Pacific business hub, marking a significant expansion into the region. The crypto payments company plans to leverage the new entity to accelerate compliant fiat on/off-ramp services and cross-border payment infrastructure across the market.
The firm announced strategic partnerships with KakaoBank, Woori Bank, and KB Financial Group to support this expansion. These collaborations will focus on issuing and distributing a Korean won (KRW) stablecoin, providing wallet services, and building regulated channels for converting fiat currency to crypto assets.
