Latvia aims to implement tokenization regulations for real-world assets by the first half of 2027, with commercial property identified as a potential starting point. Economics Minister Viktors Valainis stated that his ministry is collaborating with the central bank, Finance Ministry, and industry representatives to develop a framework designed to attract investment.
The government's action plan originally required an assessment of legal changes enabling asset tokenization by October 1, but Valainis confirmed the work remains ongoing. Beyond commercial real estate, the proposed rules may also cover government bonds and cryptocurrency-linked transactions for buying or selling companies.
