Google will unveil Google Multi-Party Compute (MPC), a secure crypto custody service targeting banks and financial institutions, at its inaugural Digital Assets Symposium in New York. Currently in private preview with several institutions testing the platform, Alphabet has already deployed the service to safeguard its own digital assets on Ethereum and Solana. Commercial launch is planned for early 2027, with pricing yet to be announced.
The system distributes private key shards across Google Cloud, institutional hardware, and third-party cloud providers. Transactions undergo verification against configurable rules—including transfer limits, destination addresses, and multi-department approvals—before signing, supporting thresholds such as 2-of-3 and 5-of-7. At launch, the service will handle ECDSA and Ed25519 signature algorithms, with upgrade paths to post-quantum cryptography. The offering positions Google against specialized custody firms including Fireblocks, Fordefi, and BitGo.
