AI coding agent Amp now allows users to access the service for free when they provide their own computing resources and model subscriptions or API keys. ChatGPT subscribers connecting to Amp no longer need a monthly plan, while the bring-your-own-key (BYOK) option no longer carries Amp token fees or usage limits, except for enterprise plans. Users can run Amp agents for free on their own computers through Runner or pay by usage for the remote Orbs computing environment. Amp also introduced a free Hobby tier, while Teams users face no additional charge. Megawatt and Gigawatt members continue to receive average discounts of 60% and 65%, respectively, on Orbs and model usage, along with early access to nine BYOK channels, including OpenRouter, Amazon Bedrock, Google Cloud Agent Platform, Azure Foundry, Vercel AI Gateway, Cloudflare AI Gateway, Ollama Cloud, OpenCode Go and custom endpoints.
