Mark Zuckerberg said AI labs should use independent evaluators and advisers to ensure model safety rather than wait for the industry to agree on slowing development. The Meta CEO said Meta delayed the release of its AI tool Muse by several months to strengthen safety and protections, without asking other companies to pause alongside it. Zuckerberg’s position contrasts with Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei’s call to slow development of the most advanced AI systems. Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said safety is a top priority but an engineering issue, adding that companies can pause releases when products become uncontrolled or unsafe and that safety and rapid development are not mutually exclusive. OpenAI CEO Sam Altman said he believes the industry can advance AI safely while avoiding major harm.
