ZKsync has announced plans to shut down its ZKsync Lite network on May 4, 2026, as it shifts focus to the ZKsync Era and ZK Stack ecosystems. The network, which launched in June 2020, will cease block production and freeze its final state to maintain balance integrity. Users are advised to withdraw assets before the shutdown, although a read-only API will remain available for data access for at least a year, allowing unwithdrawn funds to be claimed. ZKsync Lite, which supports token transfers and NFT minting but lacks smart contract capabilities, currently holds approximately $33.9 million in total value locked (TVL), including $24.9 million in stablecoins and $8.4 million in ETH. The transition to the Era ecosystem, which features zkEVM functionality, marks a strategic shift to enhance the project's capabilities.
