Zerion, a Web3 wallet application, reported a $100,000 loss after a team member's device was compromised in an AI-powered social engineering attack attributed to North Korean hackers. The breach affected the company's internal hot wallet, but user funds and application infrastructure remained secure.
In response, Zerion has temporarily taken down its web application, with plans to restore services within 48 hours. The company has rotated all compromised credentials and secured its deployment infrastructure. Zerion is working with security partners Blockaid, ZeroShadow, and ChainPatrol to trace the attackers' wallets, and has reported the stolen funds' addresses to law enforcement.
