The Zcash community’s advisory vote on the NU7 network upgrade is scheduled to close on September 14. The proposal would replace periodic ZEC halvings with a smooth issuance curve and consider reducing the block interval from 75 seconds to 25 seconds.
The proposal would not change ZEC’s total supply cap, only the pace at which new coins are released. If approved, development and deployment would still need to be completed. ZEC recently reached $1,093.21, its highest level since 2018, and ranked 10th by market capitalization.
