Zcash founder Zooko Wilcox announced that the network has distributed over $8 million in retroactive grants, including millions awarded to contributors who protected users during this year's AI vulnerability crisis. Wilcox stated the distribution demonstrates Zcash’s sustainable, capture-resistant self-funding and self-governance mechanism.
The project plans to conduct similar grant distributions multiple times a year following further mechanism improvements. Implementing these upgrades requires collaboration from Valar, ZODL, Vizor, the Financial Privacy Foundation, and token holders utilizing approximately $3 billion worth of ZEC for anonymous voting.
