The Zcash community completed a privacy vote on the NU7 network upgrade, with nearly 2.4 million ZEC participating, representing about two-thirds of eligible ZEC.
The vote showed 99.9% support for reducing block time from 75 seconds to 25 seconds to speed transaction confirmations, while 98.9% backed keeping the existing Bitcoin-style halving mechanism. Another 96.6% supported delaying redistribution of Network Sustainability Mechanism fees to miners until at least February 2031, disabling outdated Sprout privacy transactions, and launching NU7 as soon as possible with features ready by September 30 at the earliest.
