Zakura, the team behind the Zcash full-node client, has released Zakura Common, a new cryptography and protocol library for the Zcash ecosystem. Benchmark tests show major performance gains, including more than 14x faster proof generation on mobile, over 5x faster proof generation on desktop, more than 21x faster Sinsemilla hashing, more than 1.5x faster trial decryption, and 4x to 8x faster zk-SNARK verification. The upgrade can reduce wallet transaction creation wait times from more than 3 seconds to under 200 milliseconds in many cases. Zakura Common does not require a network upgrade and has been open-sourced under the MIT/Apache 2.0 dual license. Zakura 1.3.0 will migrate to the new technology stack.
