Blockchain researcher ZachXBT has identified a Canadian scammer, known as Haby (Havard), who defrauded victims of over $2 million by impersonating Coinbase. The scam involved sophisticated social engineering tactics, with the perpetrator using the stolen funds for luxury purchases and gambling. The Abbotsford-based scammer is also linked to filing false police reports.
