Former Federal Reserve Chair Janet Yellen has expressed concern that the investigation into current Fed Chair Jerome Powell undermines the central bank's independence. Speaking on Monday, Yellen described the situation as "extremely chilling" and urged financial markets to pay closer attention. She criticized the suggestion that Powell might have committed perjury, stating, "I know Powell very well, and the possibility of him committing perjury is zero." Yellen suggested that the investigation might be an attempt to remove Powell from his position.
