Garrett Jin, co-founder of XHash, has raised concerns about a structural misjudgment in the current analysis of oil prices. Jin pointed out that while Brent crude is priced at approximately $106 and WTI at $95, these figures only represent conditions in the Atlantic basin. The Dubai/Oman crude benchmark, which is more indicative of Asian market dynamics, has surged to $155, highlighting a significant price divergence. Jin emphasized that crude oil flows through the Strait of Hormuz are primarily directed towards Asian markets, suggesting that Western benchmark prices do not accurately reflect the supply and demand dynamics in Asia. He believes this divergence is not a temporary fluctuation but rather a structural issue that needs to be addressed.
