Xaman Wallet founder Wietse Wind has issued a warning about a coordinated scam targeting XRPL users, involving fake sign requests, phishing emails, and impersonation accounts. Wind highlighted the rise in social engineering attacks aimed at crypto holders, emphasizing that these scams exploit user behavior rather than blockchain vulnerabilities. Wind detailed the scam tactics, including fraudulent NFTs, fake desktop wallet apps, and direct messages posing as support staff. He urged users to avoid clicking on links, responding to DMs, or connecting wallets to unknown sites. Despite Xaman being a mobile-only application, scammers are promoting fake desktop wallets and offering free tokens in exchange for secret keys. This warning comes amid a broader trend of increasing crypto scams, with a PeckShield report noting $1.37 billion lost to scams in 2025, a 64% rise from 2024. Wind stressed that user vigilance is key to security, advising users to avoid approving unknown transactions or sharing keys.
