Ethereum-based gaming network Xai has filed a lawsuit against Elon Musk's artificial intelligence company xAI, alleging trademark infringement and unfair competition. The lawsuit, submitted in the Northern District Court of California, claims that xAI's use of the name has caused market confusion and harmed Xai's brand. Ex Populus, the company behind Xai, asserts it has been using the XAI trademark in U.S. commerce since June 2023, particularly within its blockchain gaming ecosystem and $XAI token. Ex Populus describes the Xai Ecosystem as a blockchain network tailored for video games and digital transactions, offering infrastructure for game logic, AI-driven decision-making, rewards, and data management. The company argues that the similarity in names between Xai and xAI necessitates legal intervention to prevent further brand damage.
