X has completed a major rewrite of its web application, dramatically improving load times on slow network connections. According to Yagiz Nizipli, who leads X's web team, the first post on a profile now loads in 2.7 seconds on weak networks, down from over 22 seconds previously. The performance gains were detailed in an engineering blog post, and the new web app is currently being rolled out country by country.
