Winter storm Fern has significantly impacted Bitcoin mining operations across the United States, causing Foundry USA's hash rate to plummet by approximately 60% since Friday. The storm has led to the shutdown of around 200 EH/s of mining power, slowing Bitcoin block production to 12 minutes per block. Despite the disruptions, Foundry USA still maintains control of about 198 EH/s, representing 23% of the global mining pool hash rate. Other U.S. mining pools have also been affected, with miners adjusting energy usage to alleviate pressure on the power grid. The storm has resulted in power outages for over one million residents.
