The White House has unveiled a new U.S. cyber strategy document, marking the first time blockchain and encryption have been explicitly included in such a strategy. The document, titled "President Trump's Cyber Strategy for America," outlines a 7-page plan with six pillars emphasizing cyber offense and deterrence. Notably, it highlights the need for protection and security of cryptocurrency and blockchain technology, a departure from previous strategies that omitted these technologies. The strategy also aims to combat anonymous financial channels by proposing measures to "eradicate criminal infrastructure and cut off financial exit routes." This could provide a policy basis for regulators to intensify actions against coin mixers, privacy coins, and unregulated financial channels. Additionally, the strategy plans to expand offensive cyber operations and mobilize the private sector to counter hostile networks, while promoting AI-driven automated cyber defense systems. An executive order will establish a new unit within the National Coordination Center to enhance law enforcement efforts against transnational cybercrime groups.
