The White House is reportedly considering former CFTC commissioner Jill Sommers and NCUA chief Kyle Hauptman for the position of CFTC chair. Sommers, who spent a decade at Patomak Global Partners, is known for her close ties with Paul Atkins. Hauptman, currently the 13th chair of the National Credit Union Administration, has a background in trading U.S. Treasuries and futures from his time at Jefferies. Both candidates are considered pro-crypto. This development follows reports that the administration has resumed vetting candidates for the role, including SEC's Mike Selig and Treasury's Tyler Williams, amid delays in Brian Quintenz's confirmation. Additionally, Milbank lawyer Josh Sterling is also being considered, according to recent updates.
