Democratic Senator Elizabeth Warren said she remains committed to advancing cryptocurrency legislation after the CLARITY Act failed to secure the 60 votes needed for a procedural vote in the Senate, but she does not support the bill in its current form. Warren called the measure Washington’s “first substantive opportunity” for crypto regulation and said any legislation must include rules governing crypto investments by public officials, protect national security and consumers, and strengthen efforts to combat illicit finance and terrorism. She said she would lead bipartisan and industry negotiations if Democrats regain control of the Senate in the November midterm elections and she becomes chair of the Banking Committee. Prediction market Kalshi placed the probability of Democrats winning the Senate at 52%.
