The War Department has added Starshield AI’s Grok for Government to its generative AI platform, GenAI.mil, according to the department’s CTO office. The version is approved for controlled unclassified information environments at Impact Level 5 and will provide military personnel with deep reasoning, adaptive reasoning modes, custom workspaces, persistent projects and reusable playbooks. The tool is expected to support use cases including procurement market research and supply chain management. The department said GenAI.mil has attracted more than 1.7 million unique users in its first nine months, representing over half of its workforce of more than 3 million personnel. Officials said the Grok rollout is intended to expand access to frontier AI tools, avoid vendor lock-in and support the development of the U.S. AI ecosystem.
