Volcano Engine, ByteDance's cloud computing arm, has exceeded 100 trillion daily token requests for its cloud-based large models, marking a 60% increase in less than two months since the Spring Festival. This milestone places ByteDance among the few global leaders, alongside OpenAI and Google, in token consumption scale. The growth is primarily fueled by the Chinese market, with significant expansion in overseas operations. Despite constraints, such as the pending overseas launch of the Seedance 2.0 API, Volcano Engine has seen individual user token consumption rise 16-fold in the past month. Products like OpenClaw are driving AI adoption among mainstream users. ByteDance aims to surpass RMB 10 billion in revenue from its Model-as-a-Service (MaaS) business by 2026, with plans to increase this target as models like Seed 2.0 gain traction. The National Data Bureau reported China's daily token usage reached over 140 trillion in March, highlighting the rapid growth in this sector.
