Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has forecasted a "decentralization renaissance" by 2026, reflecting on his 2014 vision for blockchain technology. In a recent post, Buterin highlighted the evolution of decentralized applications, which he initially envisioned to support a wide range of sectors including finance, social media, and governance. Despite various narratives overshadowing this vision over the years, Buterin asserts that the core technologies are now more robust and user-friendly. Buterin noted that decentralized applications, once considered mere "toys," have become significantly easier to use compared to the Web 2.0 era. He anticipates that by 2026, platforms like Fileverse will be sufficiently user-friendly for everyday tasks such as document creation and collaboration, marking a significant shift towards a decentralized internet.
