Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin has articulated a vision for Ethereum to evolve into a trustless application infrastructure that operates independently of continuous developer maintenance. In a recent publication, Buterin emphasized the need for Ethereum to have the capability to ossify its protocol when necessary. Key objectives include achieving quantum resistance, supporting scalable architectures like ZK-EVM and PeerDAS, and establishing a sustainable state model for decades. Buterin also highlighted the importance of complete account abstraction, a DoS-resistant gas pricing mechanism, a decentralized PoS economic model, and a censorship-resistant block construction mechanism. He stressed that these foundational developments should be completed in the coming years to ensure Ethereum's long-term technical and social resilience.
