Vitalik Buterin, co-founder of Ethereum, highlighted significant technical expansion in Ethereum over the past year, with the gas limit potentially reaching 300 million. However, he expressed concerns about the disconnect between technical advancements and application layers. In a recent interview in Chiang Mai, Buterin criticized the memecoin craze and the over-financialization of SocialFi, which he believes undermines the social essence of these platforms. He suggested that Farcaster's shift towards the wallet sector might be an attempt to achieve mass adoption. Buterin also discussed Ethereum's readiness to support AI agents with accounts and payment services, positioning it as the "world computer." Additionally, he expressed a desire for future decentralized stablecoins to be pegged to CPI or energy rather than traditional fiat currencies.
