Vietnam's Deputy Finance Minister Nguyen Duc Chi announced that the government will limit its cryptocurrency exchange pilot project to a maximum of five licensed operators. As of now, no formal applications have been received, though some companies are in the process of setting up systems and engaging in preliminary discussions with regulators. This initiative is based on the Digital Technology Industry Law passed in June 2025. The Ministry of Finance will collaborate with the Ministry of Public Security and the State Bank of Vietnam to establish tax, compliance, and operational standards, with plans to issue the first license by 2026.
