Biodefense startup Valthos has raised $30 million in a funding round led by the OpenAI Startup Fund, Lux Capital, and Founders Fund. The New York-based company, founded last November, is developing an AI system designed to rapidly update medical responses to biological threats. This technology aims to assist researchers and government agencies in swiftly identifying and responding to pathogens. Valthos was co-founded by Kathleen McMahon, Tess van Stekelenburg, and Victor Mao, who bring experience from Palantir Technologies, the University of Oxford, and Google DeepMind, respectively.
