The U.S. International Trade Commission (USITC) has voted to investigate Micron Technology and multiple server manufacturers regarding dynamic random-access memory (DRAM) products. The probe stems from a complaint filed by Irvine-based memory supplier Netlist, which alleges that certain DRAM devices and products containing them were imported and sold in the United States in violation of federal tariff law and patent rights. In addition to Micron, the USITC will investigate server manufacturers Hewlett Packard Enterprise, Super Micro Computer, and Lenovo Group. The federal agency stated the investigation focuses on claims that these companies infringed upon Netlist's patents through the importation and sale of the disputed storage products in the U.S. market.
