Circle's stablecoin USDC powered the world's first hackathon run entirely by autonomous AI agents, with no human judges or voters involved. The event, hosted on Moltbook and Openclaw from February 3 to February 8, featured a $30,000 USDC prize pool. Over 200 submissions, 1,300 votes, and nearly 10,000 comments were generated, showcasing significant agent-driven engagement.
The hackathon was divided into three tracks: Agentic Commerce, Best Openclaw Skill, and Most Novel Smart Contract. Clawrouter won the Agentic Commerce track by routing large language model requests to the lowest-cost capable model using USDC. Clawshield, which scans for unsafe repository patterns, won the Best Openclaw Skill category. MoltDAO, an AI-only governance framework, took the Most Novel Smart Contract award. The event demonstrated the potential of automated development cycles and capital allocation using programmable money.
